Privacy Policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
This policy explains what information Rule34DB (“we”, “us”) handles when you visit rule34db.com, why we handle it, and the choices you have. You can browse the Site without an account.
1. What we collect
Technical data
Like any website, ours processes the requests it receives: IP address, date and time, the page or file requested, the referring page, browser type, and whether the request succeeded. We use it to serve pages, diagnose faults, defend against abuse and produce aggregate traffic statistics.
Cookies and local storage
- Session cookie — only when you log in or submit a form; keeps you signed in and protects against cross-site request forgery.
- Security token — required to submit forms.
- Theme preference — stored in your browser's local storage, never used for tracking.
- Traffic-protection cookie — set by the service that filters automated traffic, so that people and bots can be told apart.
Usage measurement
We measure aggregate usage — which pages are viewed, roughly from where, on what kind of device and how quickly they load — so that we know what is worth publishing and what needs fixing. This is reported to us as statistics, not as a profile of an individual. You can block measurement with any content blocker; the Site works normally without it.
Information you give us
If you use the contact form we store the name, email address, topic, subject and message you submit, together with technical details used to filter automated submissions. If registration is open and you create an account, we store your email address and a protected form of your password.
2. Why we use it
- To run the Site — delivering pages and media, keeping sessions working (performance of our contract with you, or our legitimate interest in operating the service).
- Security and abuse prevention — rate limiting, filtering automated traffic and investigating attacks (legitimate interest).
- Answering you — responding to contact, removal and DMCA messages (legitimate interest, or steps taken at your request).
- Improving the Site — aggregate usage statistics (consent where required by law, otherwise our legitimate interest in measuring the service).
- Legal obligations — retaining records where the law requires, or responding to lawful requests.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. It is shared only with the suppliers we need to operate the Site, and only as far as necessary:
- Hosting, storage and delivery suppliers — the infrastructure that hosts the Site and serves its pages and media.
- Security and traffic-management suppliers — network protection, filtering of automated traffic and attack mitigation.
- Measurement suppliers — providers that turn visits into aggregate statistics.
- Authorities — where we are legally required, or where disclosure is necessary to investigate illegal content or protect someone's safety.
4. How long we keep it
Operational logs are kept for a short window and then rotated. Contact and DMCA messages are kept while the request is open and afterwards as a record of the complaint. Account data is kept until you delete your account. Aggregate statistics are retained for a limited period.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, send us a message through the contact form and choose “Something else” — we respond within the period the law allows. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
6. International transfers
Our suppliers operate globally, so your data may be processed outside your country. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the standard contractual clauses those suppliers offer.
7. Children
The Site is for adults only and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors; if you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
Traffic between you and the Site is encrypted. Access to the systems that run the Site is limited to a small number of people, and we keep the data we hold to a minimum. No system is perfectly secure, but we take these obligations seriously.
9. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact
Privacy questions go through the contact form (topic “Something else”). Content and copyright matters: see the DMCA page.
