DMCA notice of copyright infringement
Last updated 20 October 2026
Rule34DB hosts third-party artwork indexed from public sources. We respect the rights of creators and respond to valid notices of copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).
Where to send a notice
Notices are accepted only through our
contact form. Choose
“DMCA / copyright” as the topic and put DMCA (rule34db.com) in the subject line so it
routes to the right queue. Every submission is logged with its timestamp and reference number.
Email is not an accepted channel for copyright notices — notices sent to any address other than the form are not guaranteed to be received or actioned, and we cannot treat them as valid notices.
What a valid notice must contain
We can only act on notices that include all of the following. Notices that are incomplete, vague or clearly automated are discarded.
- A physical or electronic signature of the person authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed — for example the title, the creator, and a link to the original publication.
-
Identification of the infringing material and information reasonably
sufficient for us to locate it: the full URL of each page on rule34db.com (for example
https://rule34db.com/photos/abc123). “Remove all my content” is not sufficient. - Your contact information — name, mailing address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and — under penalty of perjury — that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
What happens next
- We review every notice for completeness and plausibility.
- Where the notice is valid we remove or disable access to the identified material promptly — typically within 1–5 business days, sooner for urgent cases.
- We may pass the notice, or a summary of it, to the party who supplied the material and to third parties for transparency, as is common practice for hosted content.
- We keep a record of the notice and the action taken.
Counter-notice
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. A counter-notice must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the removed material and the location where it appeared before removal;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the district in which your address is located (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the notice or that person's agent.
On receiving a valid counter-notice we may restore the material in 10–14 business days unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action.
Repeat infringers
Accounts and sources that repeatedly attract valid takedown notices are blocked, and repeat infringers lose access to the Site.
Misrepresentation
Please be aware that knowingly making a material misrepresentation in a notice or counter-notice can make you liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). If you are unsure whether material infringes your rights, seek legal advice first.
Content standards
Separately from copyright, all depicted persons are adults (18 years or older) to the best of our knowledge, and Rule34DB has a zero-tolerance policy toward illegal content. To report content that sexualises minors, depicts non-consensual acts, or is otherwise unlawful, use the contact form and select “Abuse or illegal content” — those reports are treated as urgent. See the Terms of Service for the full list of prohibited material.
